BACTERIOLOGICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF HOUSEHOLD SOLID WASTE FROM RIO DE JANEIRO CITY, BRAZIL

摘要

Solid waste management failure is among the problems which contribute to the environmental crisis, by compromising natural, social and economic systems and human health. The wastes generated by the community are contaminated by pathogenic microorganisms from materials such as: toilet paper, handkerchiefs, bandages, baby diapers and adult/geriatric briefs, sanitary pads, needles, syringes and condoms as well as the waste of homecarc systems, and animal and human feces.
