SOLAR PHOTO-FENTON PROCESS IN THE TREATMENT OF LANDFILL LEACHATE

Sanitary landfilling is the most common way to dispose solid urban wastes. An important problem associated to landfills is the production of leachates. Leachates may contain large amounts of organic matter (biodegradable and refractory to biodegradation). The humic-type constituents are an important group, as well as ammonia-nitrogen, heavy metals, chlorinated organic and inorganic salts. Special care is required for their efficient treatment and disposal.
