WASTE CHARACTERISATION AUDIT IN ALBANIA: POTENTIALS FOR WASTE RECOVERY AND REDUCTION

While national environmental policies in Albania are formulated or in the process of updating, implementation or conversion of vision into reality still lags behind. Recently exists an extensive interest in decrease environmental impact of numerous initiatives aiming at adequately solid waste management, as government strive to increase recycling rates and diversion of wastes sent to landfills. It is clear that the starting point for all decision makers in drafting policies concerning the final treatment (incineration, biological treatment, recycling, or landfill) and effective management of urban waste is the information on waste characterization of urban waste.
