IMPROVED METHODOLOGY TO ASSESS MODIFICATION AND COMPLETION OF LANDFILL GAS MANAGEMENT IN THE AFTERCARE PERIOD

A number of approaches have been proposed to provide guidance on how to assess potential threats to human health and the environment (HHE) posed by closed municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills, and how to make decisions regarding the completion of aftercare. For example, a no threat demonstration can be based on a site-specific risk assessment or by comparison of the landfill's source characteristics to absolute target values, in which the landfill's long-term relationship with its receiving environment is usually not considered.
