Nafpaktos is located in the southeastern part of Nafpaktiageographical unit. This seaside town constitutes adynamically developing tourist destination. Rapidurbanization and the existing transportation network arethe main causes for degraded environment, poor servicelevel, congestion and other factors that affect the quality ofthe citizens' life. Adding to these, tourist regions likeNafpaktos, have to cope with abrupt seasonal changes intransportation demand, which result to congested streets,due to the overall car-centric culture. This paper aims tosuggest policy interventions that can guide thedevelopment of urban transportation in a sustainablemanner. In this context, major outputs from this researchconsist of new public transport routes, rearrangements andmodifications to the existing street network, promotion ofactions to increase cycling and actions to increase the areaof green open spaces. The main purpose of this study is tomaintain the city's cultural identity along with itsconversion to a smart city, in mobility terms. Afteranalyzing the greater area of Nafpaktos and simulating themarked changes, the expected outcomes contain thereduction of car use (up to 20-25%), the increase of annualpassenger numbers in public transport and the raise of theproportion of green spaces per inhabitant exceeding 9m2(minimum standard by the World Health Organization -WHO).
