The development and evaluation of environmentaltechnologies for the removal of metals from contaminatedsoils is a high priority research. Results from potexperiments showed sufficient extraction capacity byseveral plants, fast growing trees becoming due to theireasy biomass valorization among the most required. Theevaluation of pot experiments in field conditions is lacking.Field experiments were set up on anthropogenicallymedium contaminated soil by Cd and Pb in 2008 and 2009to evaluate the remediation potential of harvested maturetrees and to take into account autumn harvest containingtrunks, twigs and leaves as well. The results showed thatfirst harvest after four years was about three fold lowerthan the second one after another two years. The metalcontents in trunks and twigs adversely correlated with theyield. Biomass yield was more important for the metalremoval, the remediation factor reached up to 1 % in thesecond harvest in case of Cd and willow, for Pb wasnegligible 0.001 % for both plants. Autumn harvestincluding leaves showed twice more higher Cd removalthan winter one in case of willows, differences for Pb werelower for both plants.
