The P. aeruginosa strain was tested for Cd~(2+) and Cr(VI) removal potential from the simulated effluent. The order of metal resistance of the isolate reference to the reduction in optical density of the medium was Cd~(2+)> Cr~(6+)> Cu~(2+) ~ Ni~(2+). The moderate speed 100 rpm was optimum as it facilitates proper contact between the metal ions in solution and the binding sites and thereby promotes effective transfer of adsorbate ions. The slight reduction in the Cr(VI) under static conditions in the presence of higher EPS content may be due to lack of proper mixing. The trend observed for chromium removal was Dextrose + FeSO4 > Ethanol > Fructose + FeSO4 > Lactose + FeSO4 > Sucrose > Dextrose > Sucrose + FeSO4 > Lactose > Ethanol + FeSO4 > are 82.23 (%) > 57.76 (%) > 56.85 (%) > 49.45 (%) > 36.52 (%) > 24.76 (%) > 24.6 (%) > 3.66 (%) > 1.4 (%).The more prominent UV-Vis bifurcated peaks in ethanol + FeSO4 and fructose + FeSO4 indicated the formation of the complexes. The present study leads to new opportunity for industrial effluent treatment by biological agent.
