Effects of Pesticide Mixtures on Host-Pathogen Dynamics of the Amphibian Chytrid Fungus

Identifying and understanding the complex causes of the biodiversity crisis is a pressing challenge in ecology. This task is complicated because threats to biodiversity rarely operate in isolation. Instead, anthropogenic and natural stressors often interact additively or synergistically with one another to affect sensitive organisms. For example, exposure to pesticides may mitigate or exacerbate effects of pathogens on their hosts through direct or indirect mechanisms. However, these effects are complex, context-dependent, and in need of further examination.
