The acoustic response of multi-phase saturated Austin chalk samples are investigated. Consistent high velocities are found which are incompatible with effective media theories proposed. This discrepancy is linked to the existence of fast-tracks composed of high moduli saturation, spanning the sample length. These fast-tracks are supposedly created during the saturation process.
