Investigation on compacting leaves with balers

In the context of the research work the basics for the development of a suitable process for the compaction of leaves are determined. To achieve this the characteristic parameters for the compaction of leaves in roll bales have been systematically examined using a test rig. The investigations should advance the radial compaction principle to ensure a perfect function. In parallel, the requirements on municipal machines such as limited soil pressure, mobility and limited input power must be considered. To estimate the potential of a leave compacting machine there were reflections made on how to integrate such a machine in the existing leave collecting processes. In terms of the later possibility to compost the leaves and an energy recovery there will be made further reflections on the kind of material for wrapping the roll bales. Furthermore there will be done tests on compacting other kinds of goods instead of leaves in terms of a year-round use of the baling machine.
