In this paper, the application of independent component analysis (ICA) on low frequency magnetic fields will be examined. With this method, superimposed magnetic fields can be separated from one another under specific circumstances. Consequently, the magnetic field strength or flux density can be determined separately for various sources. It is also possible with the separation of superimposed field sources to hide individual sources, such as sources of interference. In one example, the data from a field measurement of a power converter controlled drive unit is broken down in such a way that the fields of two sources (currents) are shown separately and can be assessed separately in terms of exposure.
