The definition of emission requirements in terms of amplitude probability distribution (APD) is studied for the protection of digital wireless systems with error correction coding. Focusing on coherent binary phase-shift keying with convolutional coding and Viterbi decoding, a simple approximation of bit error probability (BEP) is derived in terms of the APD for non-Gaussian interferences that can be modeled by Middleton's class A model. By using the BEP expression, discussion is made on how APD-based emission limits can be defined for protecting coded wireless systems from impulsive interferences.
