Enhanced Data management to create Project Documents starting from Process Simulations

One of the most widely used approach by Engineering Companies to start designing new Process Plants currently is to develop the process with simulators. This paper has the scope to highlight how the use of commercial structured databases can offer advantages in the data transfer from the simulations into the Project deliverables. The Software allows organizing the Project information from simulations in a structure that helps the storage of the data. This results in a documentation that is always consistent and, enhancing the data exchange among various company departments, the possibility of errors is reduced. In particular, starting from consolidated simulations, all data present in the streams are imported correctly into the database, avoiding errors in the manual data entry while transferring the information in the Project Documents (e.g. Material Balances and Equipment datasheets). Moreover the possibility to import many simulations helps the equipment Process design thru a smart comparing of different operating cases. The advantages have been however not only limited to the import tools already embedded in the software, but the possibility to insert data from other sources have been internally developed and improved.
