The formula of the collection rate in the Battery Directive (2006/66/EC) is not adequate to apply only for rechargeable batteries. Even after the use period, many small and/or expensive appliances are still in the consumers' house in several reasons. Example: 1) Shaver: Buy new one and keep old one in the bathroom 2) Cellular phone: Use function (camera, alarm etc.) for old One 3) Digital Camera: Buy new one and keep old one still usable 4) VCR & Note-PC: Expensive product - people need courage to throw away even old one. Need continuous survey to get reliable data.
