Retrofit Solutions for pre-1970 R.C. Buildings: an Overview of Latest Research Developments in New Zealand

摘要

This paper presents an overview of alternative retrofit strategies and technical solutions for RC buildings developed and/or further refined in the past few years as part of a multi-year research project carried out at the University of Canterbury, with the final aim to prepare a Retrofit Handbook for daily use of practising engineers. The feasibility and efficiency, in the contest of a performance-based retrofit approach of adopting and combining different solutions such as Fiber Reinforced Polymers, a Metallic Diagonal Haunch, Post-Tensioning rocking systems or Selective Weakening techniques, will be discussed, based on numerical and experimental evidences.
