New perspectives on urban transport Sodertalje as a model city

Sodertalje is often called the International Capital of Sweden, because around 40 percent of its residents originally come from other countries. With 100 nationalities represented and 19000 daily commuters to and from the city the public transport faces intriguing challenges to improve the local environment. A high through-flow of long distance traffic by several highways and rail lines and an important water transport link that cuts the city in two makes local transport even more difficult In connection with a new city plan - Sustainable city 2030, the traffic situation has been thoroughly studied and a revised public transport is one of the results. This presentation describes some of the features that we hope to see realized within the nearest future.
