Upon CID, deptonated NsGly fragments by at least two pathways. Loss of HONO is the lower energy fragmentation process observed by MS (computations in progress for ortho cyclization process). ortho-NO_2 required to observe loss of HONO. Sequential losses of CO, HCN and SO_2 consistent with isotopic labelling results and ortho cyclization upon loss of HONO. Feasible energetics computed for the losses of CO, HCN and SO_2. Dual bond cleavage pathway observed for structural analogues (ion trap) and for deprotonated NsGly upon greater input of energy during CID (QqQ Other pathways indicated at QqQ CID of 15 eV; gas-phase reactivity of multifunctional NsGly anion is intriguingly complex.
