First study of drug and lipid binding to a membrane complex introduced into the gas phase in a detergent micelle. P-gp is able to bind a variety of lipids with affinities depending on the net charge and volume of the lipid. P-gp exists in equilibrium between open and closed forms, readily interconverted by concomitant ligand binding.
