A Stable Isotope Method for Quantitation of the Extent of Co-/Post-translational Lipidation of Proteins

Most, but not all, alpha subunits of heterotrimeric G proteins are N-terminally myristoylated. These include Gi alphas (Gi1 α, Gi2α, Gi3α) and Go alphas (G o1α and Go2 α). For Gi alphas it has been shown that their ability to interact productively with adenylyl cyclase to decrease (inhibit) its activity depends on the presence of an N-terminal C14 myristoyl group.
