Due to the acid hydrolysis of the poly -N- {p -(4- sulphonic phenylazo)}benzyl chitosan it could only be observed the fragment correspondent to sulfanilic acid because of the rupture of the diazo linkage (-N=N-), which cannot withstand the reaction conditions.
