Cellular Pharmacology of Purine Dioxolane ProTides in Human Peripheral Lymphocytes and Hepatocytes

1. Modification at the 6-position of purine dioxolane combined with a ProTide approach imparts potent dual activity against HIV/HBV. 2. These novel dioxolane prodrugs have the potential to target latent compartments and deliver the active nucleoside triphosphate to the cells at high concentrations. 3. Additional preclinical studies are warranted to fully assess the potential of these promising dioxolane prodrugs for the treatment of HIV/HBV co-infections.
