1. We can quickly and effectively isolate SOD1 from 6 M chaotropic agents for analysis via electrospray mass spectrometry. 2. High resolution mass spectrometry is capable of monitoring metal states of SOD1 populations over time. 3. A majority of SOD1 goes through a copper containing, zinc deficient species that is transiently stable in 4 M guanidine HCl.
