Secondary metabolite profiles of marine Streptomyces D030 cultured with and without agar by LC-IT-TOF-MS

The addition of agar to liquid cultures of the marine-derived Streptomyces D030 did not increase blue pigment production but did significantly alter overall secondary metabolite production. One component of the blue pigment produced by the strain on agar plates was identified by tandem mass spectrometry and UV as y-actinorhodin.
