Pharmaceutical drug discovery labs perform a host of in vitro and in vivo assays to sort out the potential candidates for further development. The sensitivity and selectivity needed for these assays has pushed many labs to use LC/MS/MS as a universal quantitative technique. The most common approach is to run a triple quadrupole style mass analyzers in an MRM mode. However the volume of New chemical entities (NCEs) high numbers of samples has places additional efficiency demands on ADME groups. Recently there has been a trend towards using high resolution MS for routine quant experiments to eliminate the time required to develop MRM methods. Recent advances in speed and sensitivity have made this more practical for ADME assays.
