High resolution (approx20 (mu)m) MALDI imaging illustrates localization of ions of interest within a tissue section. Both 1 kHz and 8 kHz repetition rate lasers used to generate MALDI-MS imaging data provide the potential for acquisition rates of approx20 pixels per second. High resolution ion mobility separation provides improved specificity for ions of interest by removing chemical noise.
