Fast Determination of Drugs of Abuse in Human Tissue Sections by MALDI Mass Spectrometric Imaging

MALDI-MSI performed on a prototype MALDI-QqQ_(LIT) was successfully applied to the direct analysis of drugs of abuse in post-mortem human tissue sections for forensics investigation. The method developed was straightforward (no complex sample preparation beforehand from organ ablation to matrix coating), and the fast duty cycle of the SRM mode allowed a rapid targeted relative quantitation and confirmatory analysis in trap mode of drugs of abuse in human kidney tissue sections for ultimate selectivity and sensitivity.
