Simultaneous Screening, Quantitation and Confirmation of Regulated Chemicals for the Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction in Dietary Supplements

Many incidences of new drug analogs tainted dietary supplements have been reported. Sixteen analogues of Sildenafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction have been elucidated and quantitated by KFDA. Recent regulations on food additive screening require confirmatory techniques, especially in Europe and Asia. The hybrid triple quadrupole linear ion trap technology of QTRAP~(~R) system is ideal to meet such regulations since it enables simultaneous compound quantitation and identification by combining the highly selective and sensitive MRM scan with automatic confirmation using Enhanced Product Ion (EPI) spectra. In this paper we developed screening, quantitation and confirmation method for new regulated chemicals in dietary supplements.
