Reaction of ammonium sulfate with DMA is facile and goes to completion. Pseudo first order rate constants for each substitution step were determined by reaction of DMA with both ammonium sulfate and mixed sulfate clusters. Future work includes determining absolute cell pressure in order to determine second order rate constants. These values will be used to calculate reaction probabilities, equilibrium constants, and Gibbs free energy values for substitution. Additionally, the displacement kinetics for other organic amines (e.g. trimethylamine) with ammonium sulfate clusters and the displacement kinetics for organic amines in other organic salts (e.g. ammonium nitrate) will be investigated.
