Secreted molecules serve as valuable biomarkers for diagnosing diseases. Cell culture based strategy to identify differentially secreted proteins in cancers is a valuable strategy to identify fluid based biomarkers. Here, we have used a SILAC based quantitative proteomic strategy to identify proteins that are differentially secreted by pancreatic cancers. Further, we have pooled secretome from multiple pancreatic cancer cell lines to identify candidates that are common across pancreatic cancers. Systematic validation of candidate molecules should yield us biomarkers that will facilitate diagnosis of pancreatic cancers as well as markers to monitor the course of disease.
