Quantitative biotinylation approach established as gelfree method for exploring surface protein pattern. First comprehensive quantitative investigation of S. aureus (DELTA)SigB surface proteins presenting new insights in the abundance of surface associated virulence factors regulated by the alternative sigma factor (sigma)~B of S. aureus. Candidates of new virulence factors regulated by S. aureus (sigma)~B evidenced and ready for further analysis.
