Characterisation of oligomers during amyloid fibril formation using electrospray ionisation - travelling wave ion mobility spectrometry - mass spectrometry (ESI-TWIMS-MS).

ESI-TWIMS-MS has been used to separate and individually monitor co-populated protein oligomers during amyloid fibril formation. The shapes of the oligomers have been studied by cross-sectional area measurements and by modelling techniques. ESI-MS in conjunction with ~(15)N labelling has been used to probe the stability of each oligomer.
