摘要

Designing coastal and harbor works should not be considered as a purely technical problem. It is also a problem of environmental sensitivity, as well as a social and a financial one. Engineers have to take into account all these aspects. Based on this concept, this paper presents the wave overtopping experimental studies conducted in Laboratory of Harbor Works (LHW), NTUA, not only to improve the understanding of wave overtopping of different schemes of structures but mostly to convince that there are environmentally friendly solutions against wave overtopping. Their performance is verified by field observations.
