A numerical model is used in this study to improve harbor resonance induced by typhoon waves in Hualien Harbor, Taiwan. The model was first calibrated by the observed data during typhoon Tim in 1994. Five different modification strategies were proposed and simulated with the numerical model. The simulated results for the future modification strategies were compared with the present condition to illustrate the pros and cons of each strategy. Conclusions were drawn after the comparisons.
