Mammary gland tumors are strongly influenced by hormones, predominantly progesterone, and their incidence is higher among animals that have not been spayed at an early age. In Brazil, early spay is not a common practice resulting in a high incidence of these tumors. We reviewed the incidence of mammary tumors in brazilian female dogs and cats.
