IMRT VERSUS 3D-CRT FOR TREATMENT OF ORAL AND NASAL TUMORS: A COMPARISON OF ACUTE EFFECTS

Unintended damage to normal tissues limits the benefits of radiation therapy. Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is capable of delivering higher radiation doses to tumors while reducing radiation dose to normal tissues. The objective of thisstudy was to compare skin and mucosa acute radiation effects and pain scores in dogs treated with 3D conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) to those treated with IMRT.
