A Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) Pre-connectorized Fiber Optic System (Ascend) allows for quicker and easier installation of Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) networks. This system is made up a set of products that when deployed together will avoid the need for high skill personnel to be present during the installation and hence allowing a more scalable deployment. This system can be further improved by combining it with bend insensitive fiber of type R5 (ClearCurve) (i.e. bending radius of 5 mm), which can yield a more efficient and robust system while still maintaining the previous mentioned advantages. This paper will describe in details the MDU Preconnectorized Fiber Optic System with bend insensitive fiber (Ascend) and will aim at providing an in-depth analysis of the advantages that it provides.
