Photoaging, a degenerative process that leads to a loss of skin elasticity and integrity, is generally treated by ablative procedures that injure the epidermis and its basal membrane and lead to fibrosis of the dermis.The present study in a rat model determined the effect of percutaneous collagen induction by multiple needle application on the skin, including the systemic inflammatory response cytokines, such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factor (FGF 2), epidermal growth factor (EGF), and transforming growth factors (TGF ?1, ?2, ?3), and their gene expressions.
