Descriptive correlational study was performed to assess the value of assessing sperm morphology and its relationship with the outcome of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection(ICSI) using medical records of 306 couples at a tertiary care centre. The male partner's sperm morphology was compared with fertilization rate, implantation and pregnancy outcome. The mean fertilization rate was 67.45%.The correlation between the morphology and fertilization rate was significant (R=0.030, P=0.004). Head and tail abnormalities correlated negatively with the fertilization rate. This was not statistically significant. There was no significant association between successful pregnancy and morphology (P=0.178) or having a miscarriage and morphology (P=0.976). Detailed analysis of the type of morphological abnormality is useful since it is related to the success of IVF and ICSI.
