Optimizing treatments with oocyte donation

Oocyte donation must be done in an organized and trustable program in order to achieve a high success rate. Since it is important to find out which variables impact in an egg donor cycle, our aim was to evaluate several variables of our program to see if any of them was associated with the reproductive outcome. In the period 2006-2008, embryo transfers were performed in 924 egg recipients, receiving a mean of 5.4 MII oocytes per recipient. Clinical pregnancy rate was 47.4%. No statistically significant differences were found between pregnancy rates and donor age, recipient age, number of retrieved and allocated oocytes, and duration of endometrial preparation. No clear predictor variable has been found; not even the number of allocated oocytes. Therefore, sharing the oocyte cohort among several recipients has not reduced the success rate.
