The absolute measurement of the absorbed dose for gamma-ray is based on the cavity - theeory. For beta-ray, such a chamber must have a special shape and also it's volume must be variable. In the Laboratory of Ionizing Radiation Metrology from the IFIN-HH Bucharest was designed and manufacutred such a chamber for beta-ray. The main quantity to be measured with such a chamber is the ionization current. The absolute measurement of the absorbed dose for gamma-ray is based on the cavity-theory. Cavity-ionization chambers have been made in various shapes and dimentions. The extention of this theory to beta-ray allowed to measure also the absorbed dose for this type of radiation.
