Multi body simulation can predict the driving dynamics and critical vehicle behaviour of tractors in an early stage of development. One of the most important issues in tractor dynamics is the contact to the road. Unfortunately tyre modeling for tractors is more complicated than for passenger cars. Wheel loads and dimensions are considerably larger and so are the test stands for parameter identification. Therefore alternative solutions are sought-after which match the demands of all modern agricultural vehicles and may substitute tyre test stands. With the Fendt 936 a modern high horsepower tractor (265 kW, 10360 kg, 70 km/h) is allocated to the Institute of Agricultural Engineering. Among other things the tractor is equipped with new modular measuring wheels. The investigations concentrate on the possibility to identify or estimate tyre parameters from road tests.
