In recent trends, the use of SAM Systems in a war scenario has become more prominent. The SAM is complex system with various elements viz. Radar, Control Centre and Weapon Launchers with Missiles. In such a complex system, allocating and controlling various elements dynamically in a optimal manner is a challenging task. A Weapon Control Computer of a SAM system must select the weapon launchers by optimizing the reaction and engagement time. This paper discusses the Weapon launcher selection algorithm for a SAM system using Phased Array Radar. We propose a constraint based approach to select the appropriate Weapon launcher. The constraints used while selecting the weapon launchers are Debar zone, Missile Acquisition feasibility, Maximum number of Healthy Missiles and Minimum Distance. This Algorithm is designed to appropriately prioritize the constraints and use them for selecting the weapon against the Target to be engaged. We show how these constraints are useful for successful engagement of the target. We also present some of the test results carried out with simulation.
