Rising costs for fuel call for more efficient speed variable powertrains as a direct approach to decrease operating costs. Electric drivelines seems to be an alternative solution which is pointed out by industrial applications to enable efficiency and speed variability for dynamic module adaptation. Here an electric driveline for moduls is presented exemplary realised in a forage harvester. The efficiency behaviour of this electric driveline and the original hydraulic design is assessed based on test stand examinations. The major findings are presented here for power transmission efficiency, power-to-weight ration and installation size.
