The crystal orientation of one-dimensional Bi nanorods under nanoscopic cylindrical confinement is investigated. XRD confirmed the alteration of crystal orientation after recrystallization, and we observe changes of thermal properties in DSC thermograms. The melting of the nanorods occurs at lower and broader temperature ranges than that of bulk. The studies about homogeneous and heterogeneous crystallization enlighten these observations and provide characteristic feature of crystallization under nanoscopic cylindrical confinement.
