Breeding and Practical Application of Blast-resistant Isogenic Linesin Rice Cultivar Koshihikari in Niigata Prefecture

摘要

Koshihikari is the most popular nonglutinous cul-tivar of rice (Oryza sativa L.) in Japan because of its excellent eating quality and wide climate adaptability. In 2007, its area of cultivation covered 620,800 ha, ac-counting for over 35% of the total rice production area in Japan. In Niigata prefecture, it covered 96 599 ha, accounting for 80% of the total area.
