Interstitial pulmonary diseases comprise a heterogenous group of disorders characterised by inflammation and/or fibrosis of the pulmonary interstitium. In the absence of a lung biopsy, the diagnosis is frequently based on the presence of a dense diffuse or miliary to nodular interstitial radiographic pattern. The following discussion will briefly summarise equine interstitial pneumonias that have been reported in foals and adult horses.
