HYPERCOAGULATBILITY IN CATS WITH HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common type of heart disease in cats. The disease has been suggested to be heritable in some families of non-purebred cats, and is or is suspected to be hereditary in a number of cat breeds. Heritability has been proven in a colony of Maine Coon cats. Approximately half of these cats have a mutation in the cardiac myosin binding protein C gene.
