CYTOLOGY OF LUNG THORAX FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATIONS

Fine needle aspirations of the lung and thoracic masses can be challenging however with ultrasound and CT guidanc cytology of these tissues is becoming more common. Aspiration of solid masses and pleural fluid have a higher diagnostic yiels than aspiration of diffuse lung disease; however, aspiration of diffuse or nodular lung disease can be beneficial in the diagnosis of Blastomyces dermatitidis and metastatic neoplasia.
