Acute pancreatitis in dogs can be a challenging disease to manage, with a wide spectrum of severity. Many dogs will recover with minimal supportive care, whilst others will develop life-threatening complications and require intensive management. The occurrence of acute pancreatitis in cats is much less common than the chronic form, but it too is often associated with the development of life-threatening complications and the concurrent development of liver disease.
