Pleuritis and cranio-ventral pulmonary consolidation (enzootic pneumonia-like lesions) in pigs are frequent findings at slaughter. Several infectious agents and environmental factors have been associated with their occurrence. The objective of this work was to describe the prevalence of gross lung lesions in pigs at slaughter in Spain, with special emphasis on pleuritis. Moreover, those lesions were correlated with serology to different swine respiratory pathogens as well as with production system characteristics, productive parameters, and vaccination and therapy schedules.
